Welcome to our Bullying Prevention page!
At Leighton Academy, we take anti-bullying very seriously and are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and included. Through the Kapow Primary curriculum, children learn from the earliest years how to build positive friendships, respect others, and speak up if they see or experience unkind behaviour. We support all pupils to help maintain a caring, respectful school community where differences are celebrated and kindness is at the heart of everything we do.

Our Bullying Prevention Ambassadors:
Applications were handed out during Autumn Term to our Year 5 and 6 pupils. Mrs Thompson and the Bullying Prevention staff have chosen the most suitable candidates based on their applications. On Monday 24th November 2025, all Bullying Prevention Ambassadors completed leadership training with the Bullying Prevention Staff Team to ensure that they are prepared to support the pupils of our school. Our ambassadors will meet with Miss Frodsham and Mrs Allen regularly to continue training, discuss any important matters, and to promote anti-bullying within school. How We Teach Anti-Bullying Through Our Curriculum:
At our school, we use the Kapow Primary curriculum to teach children about positive relationships and to prevent bullying. In EYFS, children begin by learning how to share, take turns, recognise feelings, and build positive relationships, laying the foundations for understanding kindness and respect as they move through school. From Year 1 through to Year 6, pupils gradually build the skills to recognise bullying, understand its impact, and know what to do if it happens. Lessons cover themes such as friendship, respect, inclusion, and empathy, helping children to see the importance of kindness and fairness. They also learn practical strategies – for example, how to resolve conflicts, support peers, and report concerns safely – both in person and online. Our approach combines classroom discussions, role-play, restorative conversations, and creative activities like kindness challenges or awareness events, so that children can explore issues in age-appropriate ways. By embedding anti-bullying into our PD and RSE curriculum, we aim to give every child the confidence to speak up, the tools to stand against unkind behaviour, and the understanding to build a supportive school community.
