Why do we offer clubs at Leighton Academy?

Attending a lunchtime or after-school club offers children a wide range of benefits beyond the classroom. Clubs provide opportunities for pupils to develop new skills, discover talents and interests, and build confidence in a supportive environment. They also encourage children to make new friendships, work collaboratively with others and develop important social skills.

Our clubs help to promote positive wellbeing by encouraging children to be active, creative and engaged in activities they enjoy. Whether participating in sport, music, art, computing or other enrichment activities, pupils can develop resilience, teamwork and independence while having fun.

A particular strength of our provision is that all clubs are offered free of charge, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate regardless of financial circumstances. Clubs are delivered by experienced school staff and specialist providers, allowing pupils to benefit from high-quality experiences and expertise that enrich their learning and broaden their horizons.

How do I book a club?

Clubs can be booked through Arbor at the beginning of each half term, providing families with the opportunity to choose activities that best suit their child's interests.

How do we decide what clubs to offer?

We actively seek pupil voice through our School Council, whose feedback helps to shape our club offer and ensure that activities reflect the interests and preferences of our children.

As part of our commitment to providing equal opportunities and enriching experiences for all, we aim for every pupil in receipt of Pupil Premium funding to attend at least one club each week. This helps to ensure that all children can benefit from the wider opportunities available at school, develop new interests and feel fully included in school life.
