Year 3 Home Learning

Welcome to the year 3 home learning page!

We will be setting your child a variety of tasks to complete each week online, as well as suggesting other activities they can complete whilst at home. Please see the Files to Download section (at the bottom of this page) for further ideas.

We would love to hear about any work your child is completing at home, please feel free to share any work or pictures with us via email.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Accessing online learning

All pupils have login details for Mathletics, Purple Mash, Times Tables Rockstars and KiVa games in their reading journals but if their journals have been left at school please e-mail your child’s class teacher (or the school office) so that we can send you the relevant logins. We will continue to place targeted work on these websites.

Children are free to explore the topics relevant for their year group, as well as specific targets which will be set weekly. All children will be expected to achieve a certificate weekly too.

Times Table Rock Stars is a fun, interactive way of learning the 1 – 12 times tables by answering a random selection of 25 questions. We will be setting weekly session targets and having a battle of the bands between the two year 3 classes!

Children are familiar with ‘Hit the Button’ which can be found online and is an interactive way of learning their times tables by choosing from the 1 – 12 times tables and answering as many questions as they can in a time frame. The top marks website also has lots of other fun, interactive maths games for your child to explore.

Each child is encouraged to read daily and record their progress in their reading journal.

All children are familiar with Accelerated Reader which is used within school but can also be accessed from home. Once children have completed a book, they can attempt the reading quiz for that book to check they have effectively read the story. There are also vocabulary quizzes available for some books.

Oxford Owl is also available online and provides reading resources and e-books for ages 3 – 11.

Purple Mash

Purple Mash is an excellent resource for a variety of subject areas. Your child is free to explore the games and activities on there, as well as completing specific ‘To Dos’ which will be set weekly by your child’s class teacher.

The Oak National Academy is an online learning resource created by 40 teachers. It will provide 180 video lessons a week for reception to Year 10. Each Year group has around 3 lessons a day: 1 English, 1 Maths and 1 Foundation.
