Hydration Day

On Friday 4th October, we will held a ‘Hydration Day’ in school organised by our pupil sports leaders. The children will spent the day learning about the benefits of drinking water.

DID YOU KNOW that when we are thirsty, mental performance including memory, attention and concentration can decrease by around 10%?  Pupils concentrate better because they are not distracted by the effects of dehydration such as thirst, tiredness and irritability.

On this day, every child in school received a Leighton Academy water bottle that will be kept in their classroom.  From this day, children will be expected to drink water only during the school day and we can guarantee that every child has a bottle and access to fresh drinking water to keep them hydrated and ready to learn.

Our sports leaders launched the day with an assembly all about keeping yourself hydrated and launched a competition to design a poster about the benefits of drinking water. These posters are now displayed outside the dining room.
