The votes have been counted and we are pleased to announce that Archie and Kacper are the Leighton Academy Head Pupils for 2018-19.

Y5 and 6 have all voted democratically and had a taste of a real election. All candidates should be very proud of the speeches they made in front of the whole school. Well done to you all.

We are looking forward to workng with Archie and Kacper to be the voice of the children and help to make the school an even better place. 

 

Head Pupil Elections

  • Any pupil in year 6 is eligible to apply for the role of ‘Head Pupil’. There will be 2 Head Pupils elected.
  • Application packs can be collected from your class teacher or downloaded from the link below and must be handed in at the school office by Friday 28th September.
  • You must complete the application form and write a short speech lasting no longer than 3 minutes about why you want to become a head pupil, linked to the job description and qualities list below.
  • You will be asked to make your speech in assembly on Monday 1st October. After this, voting will take place and all pupils in year 5 and 6 will be allowed one vote, as well as all staff.
  • The pupils elected will be announced in assembly on Wednesday 3rd October. The children elected will hold this role until the end of the academic year.

What is a head pupil?

  • A head pupil is a representative that works for all the other pupils to make the school the best place it can be.

What will a head pupil have to do?

    • Work alongside the peer mentors
    • Speak regularly in assemblies about new projects and their progress
    • Represent the academy at event both in and out of school time
    • Be the voice for pupils when meeting with the principal and governors to make changes to the school for the better

Qualities of a head pupil

    • A good listener
    • Fair
    • An excellent role model to others
    • Punctual
    • Reliable
    • Confident in speaking in front of others
