2 Year Old Provision

Mrs Leigh and Miss Pate would like to welcome you to the

2 Year Old Provision.

Spring Term 2018

As the months are still cold, please ensure that you bring named wellies, a warm coat, hat and gloves for your child.

This term we are going to be planning lots of fun activities based around your child's interests.

The children naturally take an interest in their environment and we will be looking at Spring activites such as noticing signs of Spring, learning about new life and growth and exploring Spring using all of our senses.

Easter will give us the opportunity to create seasonal craft, including biscuits, flower paintings, egg decorating and collages using colourful Spring media and materials.

Talk for Writing - This term, we will be focussing on the following books:

  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Spring Term 1)
  • We will be colour sorting and matching, making bear biscuits following a simple recipe and using our pencil skills to follow the bear’s footprints.
  • We will also be becoming familiar with the text, using actions for term ‘What do you see?’, and making binoculars to help us ‘look’ for the animals. We will also be learning and naming the animals and the sounds that they make.
  • Finally, we will be using props and toys to create a story map and recall the story using actions and words.

  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar. (Spring Term 2)

(Activities to follow after February Half-Term)

Stay and Play sessions:

This Term we will be inviting parents to a ‘Stay and Play Sensory Story Cafe’ so keep checking this page and the main nursery page for details.

Home Learning Activities: Spring Term

  • Go on a Spring walk. Look for signs of Spring - can you see new buds and shoots on the flowers and trees? Ask your child where they have spotted the buds and support your child to use language including down, up, below, under, on, in and behind.
  • Set up an Easter Egg Hunt.  Packs of plastic eggs will be available in the bargain stores nearer to Easter. They are a quick and economical way to set up a hunt when using nets of chocolate eggs to divide and put inside.  Help your child to look for the eggs and support them to use language such as under, on, in, behind to describe the egg location. Can they name the colour of the eggs and count how many they have? Help your child to put their finger on the eggs one at a time as they are counting.
  • Sing simple nursery rhymes related to Easter and Spring.  Including Humpty Dumpty, Old Macdonald had a farm, 5 Little Ducks went swimming one day and Peter Rabbit.
